A 49-year-old yatri from Madhya Pradesh (MP) died due tocardiac arrest near holy cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas, ayatra official said on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Narayan Sanvar, son of Ram Lal Sanvar, resident of MP suffered a massive cardiac arrest near the cave shrine.However, he was immediately rushed to nearby medical camp where he was declared brought dead.With this a total of 20 pilgrims besides two sevadars and asmany security force personnel deployed on yatra duty en-route the cave, havedied so far, since the commencement of the annual pilgrimage to holy caveshrine in south Kashmir Himalayas from July 1.Majority of deaths occurred due to cardiac arrest.About 30 others also suffered injuries due to shooting stones and other causes during the pilgrimage.All pilgrims were required to get a fitness certificate issued from a doctor before undertaking the pilgrimage to the shrine located at an altitude of 3,888 metres.
However, every registered yatri would get Rs three lakhinsurance cover from the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB).So far record number of 2.86 lakh pilgrims have already paid obeisance at the Amarnath holy cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, which was more than the total number of yatries who underwent the pilgrimage in 2018.
